Summary: Guide for children and young people about the Children and Families Act 2014. The Act aims to: give greater support to vulnerable children and those whose parents are separating; sets out a system to help children with special educational needs and disabilities; outlines faster adoption processes; and provide help for parents to balance work and family life. Explains changes to various specific areas affecting young people, including adoption, family courts, children with special educational needs or a disability and caring for children outside of school. Publication details: London: Department for Education, 2014 Corporate authors: Department for Education The young person’s guide to the Children and Families Act 2014.(please note: this opens as a PDF) Although this guide is written for young people, I think it is a good overview of the new Act 2014, and could be useful for anyone who has children or is in a position of looking after children in the UK. Will leave it in the general forum for a while, then move it to the resources section. All the best, Lindsey
