Hi everyone,
I wanted to share--my ex was sentenced yesterday for felony assault on the now-ex girlfriend, and the judge gave her the max! 5 years, with 6 months credit for time served, and she has to serve at least 2 years before she is eligible for parole. Her lawyer is appealing, but as it stands right now, she will be locked up until at least August 2020. It's not enough, it could never be enough as far as I'm concerned, but it's more than we expected and that is a relief. We so needed some good news. It's been a rough couple of weeks. I had been thinking about the sentencing a lot and I think that probably has something to do with this, but I had a night terror out of nowhere. I don't remember it at all, but my wife said she thought I was awake at first and when she tried to get my attention, I got very angry. I talked to my therapist and I am okay, it just shakes me up every time something like that happens, especially since it so rarely does anymore. Just a couple of days after that, my wife started having flu-like symptoms and a week later, Thursday, the day we were scheduled to close on our house, her fever went so high that I had to take her to the hospital, where she was diagnosed with mononucleosis.. After a night in the hospital, she's home, albeit still feeling like hell and still pretty much confined to bed. We were told recovery can take up to 4 weeks. BUT, she will recover and she will be okay, thank god. Also, the closing on our house was rescheduled, AND...we should be in by the first week of March, in time for her 25th birthday celebration. Yay!
