Remember me? I wrote a few months back very worried about a friend who was in a very abusive relationship, and she was afraid to leave because he'd threatened to tell her mother about certain kinky activities that she had consented to earlier in the relationship. Well, she finally did it. He hurt her pretty badly, thankfully nothing lasting or life-threatening, though she hasn't been ready to go into details, so that's all I know. She ended up calling her mother from the hospital and telling her everything. She's been scared all these years of how her mother (who is very religious) would react, but she was absolutely wonderful and told her that she loves her no matter what. My friend is in a shelter now. I really hope she decides to stay put.

Oh, and she has made a police report, with help from the shelter, but they have not found him yet.

That is great news, especially knowing your friend did not receive life threatening or lasting injuries. You have been in anchor in all of this for her- and she will need a LOT of support for the months to come. Continue the good work and thank you for letting us know how your friend is doing!!
We are here whatever might or might not happen. It is sometimes just as traumatizing for a close friend or family member to witness abuse- so be kind to yourself as well in the months to come. I am sure the shelter will help your friend with everything practical and he really has no way of coercing her now- that her mom has been informed and reassured her daughter of her love.
