Peace of mind? Am I being abused?

No what he is doing to you is not normal. It is abusive and what you describe is Domestic Violence. Last time I checked.."slapped" is "hit"..they are the same. Banging someone's head against a door is ABUSIVE and ASSAULT..calling the police and charging him with assault would be a good thing.

Please don't feel like you are bad or doing something wrong for seeking support or "sympathy". What you will find here is empathy. Almost everyone on this forum has been where you are in some shape or form.

If you are thinking of leaving..I would suggest calling a National Domestic Violence Hotline and talk to a counselor. You can remain anonymous. If I was you I would pack my bags and RUN..as fast as you can to someone who you trust and who will keep you safe. Your partner is abusing you. No it is not normal, you did not cause him to be this way, what he is doing is against the law (it is assault) and he may KILL you. HE IS THE PROBLEM.

I would suggest if you are wondering what is going on..read a book called "Why Does He Do That?" By Lundy Bancroft. He has researched ABUSE for many years and wrote this book. IT IS A GREAT source of knowledge and information regarding Domestic Violence.

You did not cause your partner to be this way..he believes he has the right to mistreat you and hurt you. HE DOES NOT. Please read the book. call a hotline, and think seriously about finding a way to get a way from this guy. PLEASE..you are at risk for being killed. Find a way to get away from this guy before he does permanent damage to your head or your body.
