Hey Steve (and everyone else who contributed to the book or learned a lot from it),
My counselor somehow got me talking about your book this week and he wrote the title down. How good would that be if he too recommends it to his other clients at the health center he works at who might learn to stay safe from it???
I am so thankful to have been a small part of your work there. Thank you for writing your book!
It also made me revisit it and read a few passages. Combined with "Why does he do that" I think I would design my next advisory class for female students during the unit on health studies. (not that males would not benefit from it but we split genders usually up when it comes to issues like sexuality, dating violence etc. because the students feel saver that way)

I read the book and was a part of me in it, and was surprised to see my bit
Lots of luck in getting your book across to those of us who are there/been there

That is amazing that you contributed as well dianem!! I recommended it to my friends in Australia and I am stoked that they are reading it right now there as well. They watched the interview Steve did in Portland with the one Cuban interviewer and it was crazy to hear that women at the other end of the world were thankful for the advice and felt all women should read certain books and learn about DV.

I'm sorry I didn't ask before, but I remember there being a post from Steve on the old forum saying that contributors could ask for a complimentary copy of the book. How can I get one? I wouldn't ask for favours but money's incredibly tight right now.

Well, you did what you needed to do - you let me know!
You can send me an e-mail at Portland17@msn.com with information on where to send it, and I'll be happy to mail you a copy. If you'd rather have a Kindle version, let me know and I'll purchase one for you.
It seems there has been a recent resurgence in interest in JR. I'm planning to do some more PR and maybe even get a new publisher. Thanks for helping me out with it - it gets very good reviews wherever I go with it, but I want to get it into more people's hands. Thanks to you, too, Janine, for getting the word out. If anyone (like your counselor) wants to talk with me directly about the book, please feel free to forward them my e-mail and we can arrange to correspond or even talk on the phone.
Looking forward to hearing from you, Julie!
---- Steve

Thanks Steve, ill see if my counselor would like to get in touch with you. He did write down your name and the book title because he works with abused women a lot too I think. And I finally got around writing my amazon review of the book as well - it is still weird for me to think why I do not want to use my real name- both on amazon or in the book where you quote me. I feel so proud and thankful I got to be a small part of it -when in real life I have no trouble (anymore) sharing my story.
I was wondering if maybe the national DV hotline or shelters etc. could receive your title in some sort of newsletter? To add it to their library or so. I did ask my Australian friends to share the info about it and they watched your interview with an Oregon interviewer as well. I am sure the market is very open for getting word out there about it. Good luck with the possible new publisher!!
